SED's remarks on sponsorship of school
**************************************

Following is the transcript of the remarks made by Secretary for Education, Mr Michael Suen, today (May 25) on the giving up of sponsorship announced by the school sponsoring body (SSB) of the Pegasus Philip WKH Christian Primary School cum Junior Secondary School (English portion):

Reporter: Have you approached any other organisations to sponsor the school? What will happen by July 14...

Secretary for Education: Give us a bit of time. I think the first important thing is to make sure that school operation goes on as normal and is not being interrupted. Now that we have got a letter confirming that the organisation will be giving up their right to operate the school, we are going to set a deadline, as you have suggested, that it will be in mid-July. We intend to set up a transitional management team to deal with the management of the school after that date. One thing that the team will be doing, like you said,is to look for another school sponsoring body with a view to letting the new school sponsoring body operate in the school's existing premises in the beginning of September.

Reporter:...... take over?

Secretary for Education: We will find a school sponsoring body to do that.
