The award-winning Inner Mongolia Acrobatic Troupe of China will present an acrobatic spectacular, "Genghis Khan", at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre from July 3 to 5 to kick off the large-scale summer festival, "International Arts Carnival".

The legend of Genghis Khan, a fearless and visionary leader who founded the Mongol empire hundreds of years ago, is well-known. But an epic acrobatic show revealing his legendary life and the spirit of the Mongolian tribe will surely be an original experience for Hong Kong audiences.

With exotic Mongolian music and modern stage techniques, this sensational three-act production showcases traditional Mongolian feats of archery, wrestling and horse racing which are transformed into breathtaking acrobatic stunts, along with such equally jaw-dropping juggling acts as lamp-rolling and bowl-kicking. It is a performance not to be missed.

"Genghis Khan" is one of the most successful productions by the Inner Mongolia Acrobatic Troupe of China, which has toured extensively to over 30 countries and delighted over 40 million people of all ages.

Established in 1960, the Inner Mongolia Acrobatic Troupe of China has enjoyed a high reputation at home and abroad with programmes featuring traditional Chinese acrobatics endowed with rich ethnic and local characteristics. With its over 100 performers of the Mongolian, Han, Hui, Oroqen, Ewenki and Daur ethnic groups, the troupe is versatile and can put on various kinds of performances. In recent years, it has revised and created a number of popular large-scale acrobatic spectaculars including "Genghis Khan", "The Mongolian Dream" and "The Last Emperor".

The troupe has been awarded over 40 prizes at acrobatics competitions and festivals worldwide, including the Gold Lion Prize of the All China Acrobatics Competition, the gold medal of the Worldwide Festival of the Circus of Tomorrow in France, the gold medal of the Rome Golden Circus Festival and the gold prize of April Spring Friendship Art Festival in Korea.

"Genghis Khan" is one of the celebration programmes of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, and one of the programmes commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre. It will be staged at 7.30pm on July 3 and 4; and at 3pm on July 4 and 5 at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Grand Theatre.
