New connecting road in Tuen Mun gazetted

     The Government published a notice in the Gazette today (May 22) on a new connecting road to provide fast and efficient access to the industrial area in Tuen Mun Area 17 and the future housing site in Tuen Mun Area 18.

     The proposed works include construction of an approximately 420- metre-long and four-metre-wide single lane carriageway connecting Road D4 and the future Road L18A; construction of lay-bys and sections of footpaths; re-provision of the existing motorcycle parking space; permanent closure of a section of the existing bicycle parking space; permanent or temporary closure of sections of the existing footpaths, carriageway and motorcycle parking space; and ancillary works such as drainage, lighting, landscape works and construction of railing.

     The works will start in mid-2009 and take about 10 months to complete.

     The plan and scheme of the works are available for public inspection at the following government offices during office hours:

(i)  Central and Western District Office, Public Enquiry Service Centre, Unit 5, G/F, The Center, 99 Queen's Road Central;

(ii) Tuen Mun District Office, 2nd floor, Tuen Mun Government Offices, 1 Tuen Hi Road, Tuen Mun; and

(iii)District Lands Office, Tuen Mun, 6th floor, Tuen Mun Government Offices, 1 Tuen Hi Road, Tuen Mun.

     Any person who wishes to object to the proposed works or the use, or both, should write to the Secretary for Transport and Housing, 16th floor, Murray Building, Garden Road, Hong Kong, on or before July 21.
