SEN continues visit in Seoul (with photos)

     The Secretary for the Environment, Mr Edward Yau, called on the Minister of Environment of the Republic of Korea, Mr Lee Maan-ee, today (May 19) to discuss environmental issues of common concern.

     He also met the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Peopleˇ¦s Republic of China to the Republic of Korea, Mr Cheng Yonghau.  

     Earlier, he attended the opening ceremony of the C40 Large Cities Climate Summit Seoul 2009 and exchanged experiences and views on the fight against climate change with delegates from leading cities around the world.  

     Hong Kong has agreed to join the C40 Steering Committee on Electric Vehicles to help accelerate the development of the market for electric vehicles (EV). The steering committee will focus on EV-related insights, best practices, challenges, issues and solutions. As a member of the steering committee, Hong Kong is committed to undertaking projects and policies to accelerate the deployment of EV technology and infrastructure in the near term.

     Mr Yau will attend the official dinner for C40 delegation leaders with President Lee Myung-bak later today.
