The delegation of the Legislative Council of HKSAR on the study of the Economic Development and Environmental Protection in Pearl River Delta Region departed for Shenzhen this afternoon (May 15) to begin its three-day duty visit.
On the first day, members of the delegation visited the Yantian Port and the OCT East Resort in Shenzhen to observe the logistics and tourism facilities. They then had a meeting with the Shenzhen Tourism Bureau.
The President of the Legislative Council and leader of the delegation, Hon Jasper Tsang Yok-sing, said the delegation visited the Yantian Port and the OCT East Resort tourism facilities today and received a briefing by the Shenzhen Tourism Bureau on the latest development of tourism in Shenzhen. He believed the visit and the briefing would facilitate Members' discussion on Hong Kong's future development of tourism. He also hoped similar visits could be arranged in future.
Members of the delegation attended a dinner hosted by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Guangdong in the evening. After the dinner, the delegation met with 13 Hong Kong entrepreneurs to share their experience in running business in the Mainland.
Members of the delegation had a fruitful meeting with Hong Kong entrepreneurs, exchanging views on the difficulties currently faced by the small and medium enterprises in the light of the decline in the economy, in particular in maintaining their businesses and obtaining loans from banks in Hong Kong and in the Mainland.
The delegation will visit BYD Company Limited, South China International Logistics Centre, Shenzhen International Airport and a municipal solid waste incineration plant tomorrow (May 16). The delegation will depart for Guangzhou in the afternoon to continue the duty visit.
