Vacancy in Southern District Council

The Director of Home Affairs declared by notice in the Gazette today (May 15) the existence of a vacancy in the Southern District Council.
The office was held by the late Mr Fong Chun-chun, an appointed member of Southern District Council who passed away on April 25. In accordance with section 16(1)(a) of the District Councils Ordinance, the office has become vacant.
In accordance with section 16(2) of the ordinance, the Chief Executive may appoint another person to hold office as an appointed member in that member's place.
