China's Yuanwang-6 space tracking ship concludes visit to Hong Kong (with photos)

     China's Yuanwang-6 space tracking ship concluded its six-day visit to Hong Kong today (May 4).

     Yuanwang-6 was seen off by the Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs, Mrs Carrie Yau, and the Director of Leisure and Cultural Services, Mr Thomas Chow, together with 100 primary students at the Ocean Terminal in Tsim Sha Tsui.

     Mrs Yau presented to the leader of the Yuanwang-6 delegation from the China Satellite Maritime Tracking and Control Department, Mr Ding Xingnong, an album of newspaper cuttings on the space tracking shipˇ¦s visit to Hong Kong.

     Noting that about 14,000 people visited the ship during its visit, Mrs Yau was pleased that Hong Kong people had an opportunity to understand the rapid development in Chinaˇ¦s aerospace technology.

     Speaking at the farewell ceremony, the Captain of Yuanwang-6, Mr Yuan Ling said the visit was successful, during which their experts and crew members had in-depth and extensive exchanges with Hong Kong people as well as introducing to Hong Kong youths the knowledge of aerospace technology. Through charity and sightseeing activities, they had further experienced the charm of Hong Kong as the Pearl of the Orient.

     Mrs Yau and Mr Chow waved goodbye to the captain and the crew, then Yuanwang-6 sailed out of the terminal under the escort of police launches and fireboats.
