SEN visits Boston

     The Secretary for the Environment, Mr Edward Yau, today (May 1, Boston time) continued his duty visit to Boston, the last stop of his American tour.

     In the morning, Mr Yau met Director of Energy Initiative, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Professor Ernie Moniz, to learn about his expertise in green technology.

     He then called on Secretary of the Executive Office of Energy and
Environmental Affairs, Mr Ian A Bowles, to exchange views on environmental protection.

     He later visited two Green Buildings, the Artists for Humanity ¡V The Epicenter and the Genzyme Centre.

     Both buildings use energy and water efficiently, incorporate recycled materials, make full use of daylight and promote the health of its occupants.

     In the afternoon, Mr Yau met Leader, Environmental Research Council, Professor Dara Entekhabi, and Professor of Architecture and Media Arts and Science, MIT, Mr Bill Mitchell.

     He ended his stay in Boston with a visit to A123, a leading battery
manufacturer applying nanotechnology.
