SEN continues visits in Ottawa (with photos)

     The Secretary for the Environment, Mr Edward Yau, today (April 28, Ottawa time) called on the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of the Environment, Mr Mark Warawa, to exchange views on environmental issues.

     He also met two Members of Parliament, Dr Alice Wong and Mr Richard Harris, during his visit to the Parliament.

     Mr Yau also met the President and Chief Executive Officer of Canadian Green Building Council, Mr Thomas Mueller, to share experiences on green buildings and sustainability.

     Mr Yau talked about Hong Kong's efforts in improving the environment and green business opportunities at a roundtable luncheon jointly hosted by the Ottawa Centre for Research and Innovation and the HKCBA Ottawa. About 30 corporate leaders and government representatives attended the event.

     At Plasco Energy Group, he was briefed on technologies to convert municipal waste into green power and other valuable products.

     Mr Yau also called on the Chinese Ambassador to Canada, Mr Lan Lijun.

     Mr Yau ends his visit in Canada today and will leave for Washington DC tomorrow morning.
