TAC briefed on major transport infrastructure projects

     Members of the Transport Advisory Committee (TAC) at a meeting today (April 28), were updated on three major cross-boundary transport infrastructure projects, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link, and the proposed Hong Kong-Shenzhen Airport Rail Link.

     "We learned of the latest progress made in these projects and the timetables for taking them forward. We agree that these projects will bring forth substantial transport and economic benefits to Hong Kong, and will also be essential to Hong Kong's sustainable growth.  We strongly support their early implementation," TAC chairman, Ms Teresa Cheng Yuek-wah said.  

     Members were also briefed by the Transport Department on the establishment of an assessment system for provision of hillside escalator links and elevator systems.  
 
     "We welcome the establishment of the assessment system which provides a comprehensive set of evaluation criteria in determining the merits and priority of proposals on hillside escalator links and elevator systems,"  Ms Cheng said.
