SEN visits Toronto (with photos)

     The Secretary for the Environment, Mr Edward Yau, today (April 27, Toronto time) exchanged views on environmental protection with Ontario Minister of the Environment, Mr John Gerresten, on his first day visit to Canada.

     He called on the Senior Adviser to the Mayor of Toronto on Climate Change, Ms Mary McDonald, and met with City of Toronto officials to learn more about their waste and recycling policy.

     At a luncheon organised by the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, the Hong Kong-Canada Business Association (HKCBA) and the Canada China Environmental Forum, Mr Yau gave a speech on "Hong Kong's Game Plan in  Green Transformation and Opportunities for Canadian Business".  The luncheon was attended by more than 100 business and community leaders.

     He also visited ZENN (Zero Emission No Noise) as well as Bay Adelaide Centre to be briefed on electric vehicles and energy-saving measures in improving the environment.

     Mr Yau will leave Toronto for Ottawa tonight.
