The Secretary for Transport and Housing, Ms Eva Cheng, left today (April 27) for Manila, the Philippines, to attend the 6th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Transportation Ministerial Meeting.
During the two-day meeting from April 28 to 29, transportation ministers and senior officials from the APEC region will discuss a wide range of issues that will encourage the development of safe, secure and efficient regional transportation systems, including seamless and sustainable transport, enhanced transport security and safety, as well as innovation and the use of advanced technology in transportation. The ministers and the officials will also discuss the role of transportation in responding to the global financial crisis.
Ms Cheng will give a presentation on enhancing regional connectivity through transport infrastructure on April 29.
A joint ministerial statement is expected to be announced at the end of the meeting.
