Short-term improvement measures at Lantau's Upper Cheung Sha Beach

     The Government will construct two temporary sand protection groynes of approximately 50 metres long and three metres wide at Upper Cheung Sha Beach, Lantau Island for mitigating sand loss so as to maintain  operational services of the beach.

     The work, which will affect an area of approximately 1.91 hectares of foreshore and seabed, is scheduled to begin in July for completion by September.

     The extent of the area affected is described in a notice published in the Government Gazette today (April 24).  

     The notice together with its related plan can be seen on notice boards posted near the site.  The plan can also be seen at the Lands Department Survey and Mapping Office, 23rd floor, North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road, North Point; at the Islands District Office, 20th floor, Harbour Building, 38 Pier Road, Central; and at the Mui Wo Sub-office, Islands District Office, Ground Floor, Mui Wo Government Offices, 2 Ngan Kwong Wan Road, Mui Wo.

     Any person who considers that he has an interest, right or easement in or over the foreshore and seabed involved may submit a written objection to the Director of Lands, 20th floor, North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road, North Point, by June 24.
