Nine employers ordered to pay MPF non-payments

The following is issued on behalf of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority:

     The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (April 21) pursued nine claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for about $119,000 on behalf of 18 employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

     Active Mobile (HK) Limited, did not dispute the amount claimed and was ordered by the Adjudicator to pay the MPFA $28,450, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

     The other eight defendants, Conrad Management Services Company Limited, RV Technology Limited, Wong Wai Tai trading as Heng Fung Food Company, Ever Shine Engineering Limited, Wong Tsz Wing trading as Fung & Yue Japanese Restaurant, Isabelle International Company Limited, Star Team Development Limited trading as Wall City and Aoem (HK) Limited, did not appear. In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA $35,621.73, $13,647.84, $11,613.24, $9,240, $7,045, $6,770.82, $4,620 and $2,354, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

     The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The tribunal further ordered the respective defendants to pay costs of $146, $176, $166, $129, $166, $129, $182, $150 and $76.
