Travel warning on Bangkok still in force

     The travel warning on Bangkok was still in force and developments would continue to be closely monitored, a government spokesman said today (April 19).

     "Hong Kong residents who are in Bangkok should attend to their personal safety and avoid places of protest and large gatherings of people," he said.

     The Immigration Department has received 229 general enquiries since a travel warning was issued on Bangkok on April 13.  There have been no requests for assistance from Hong Kong travellers since April 15.

     Residents who need assistance may call the 24-hour hotline of the Assistance to Hong Kong Residents Unit of the Immigration Department at (852) 1868.
