SHA speaks about 2nd World Buddhist Forum
*****************************************

Following is the transcript of remarks (English portion) by the Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Tsang Tak-sing, at a media session after attending the inauguration ceremony of the Board of Directors of Tung Wah Group of Hospitals today (April 2):

Reporter: Do you think you have become a pioneer and have paved the way for more official interaction between Hong Kong and Taiwan?

Secretary for Home Affairs: It is sort of serendipity. Because of this 2nd World Buddhist Forum which was jointly organised by the Buddhist organisations on the Mainland and in Taipei, I have the chance to visit Taipei. It was a very useful religious exchange. In these days, it is important that religion plays an active role in building and promoting social harmony. We had a very good exchange on cultural affairs and on future co-operation in the cultural field.

(Please also refer to the Chinese portion of the transcript.)
