Applications open for grants from Main Fund of Sir David Trench Fund for Recreation

The following is issued on behalf of the Sir David Trench Fund Committee:

     The Sir David Trench Fund Committee is inviting applications for the Main Fund of the Sir David Trench Fund for Recreation (the Fund) for 2009-10.

     The Fund is to be used for provision of facilities and purchase of equipment for recreational, sporting and cultural projects.  In keeping with the donor¡¦s wishes, emphasis is placed on encouraging the purposeful use of leisure by young people.

     Three categories of grants are available under the Fund as below:

Type of Project      Funding Scope

Capital Works    For construction of new recreational
Projects         facilities, which is of long-term
                 benefit and reach out to the widest
                 possible cross-section of the
                 community

Non-Capital      Purchase of sports and recreational
Works Projects   equipment, which is of long-term
                 benefit and for collective use

Special          Construction of new sports  
Projects         facilities, improvement of existing
                 sports facilities and purchase of
                 sports equipment for enhancement of
                 training in elite sports and   
                 developing sports at the community
                 level

     The application deadline for the Capital Works Projects and Non-Capital Works Projects is June 30, 2009. Application deadlines for Special Projects are June 30, 2009, and November 30, 2009, respectively.  Each applicant may submit only one application for the same category of grants within the same year.

     The guidelines for applications and application forms are available on the website of the Home Affairs Bureau at (www.hab.gov.hk/en/public_forms/forms.htm). They are also obtainable from the Secretariat of the Sir David Trench Fund Committee upon request by fax: 2519 7404.

     Completed application forms should be sent to the Secretariat of the Sir David Trench Fund Committee at 41/F, Revenue Tower, 5 Gloucester Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong.
