The Government today (March 31) announced that the Chief Executive had appointed Professor Grace Tang Wai-king as a member of the Advisory Committee on Admission of Quality Migrants and Professionals. Professor Tang will fill the position left vacant by the resignation of Professor Chow Shew-ping. The appointment will take effect tomorrow (April 1) and cover the rest of the committeeˇ¦s current two-year term until June 30, 2010.
"We thank Professor Chow for his past service and wise counsel on the advisory committee. We also look forward to the valuable advice from Professor Tang in future," a government spokesman said.
The advisory committee advises the Director of Immigration on entry applications received under the Quality Migrant Admission Scheme and the Admission Scheme for Mainland Talents and Professionals. It currently comprises 17 non-official members (including the chairman) and three ex-officio members.
