The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:
The Legislative Council will hold a two-day meeting on Wednesday (April 1) at 11am and Thursday (April 2) at 9am in the Chamber of the Legislative Council Building. During the meeting, the Second Reading debate on the Appropriation Bill 2009 will resume, and Members will speak on the Bill.
The Bill, introduced into the Council on February 25, 2009, seeks to apply a sum not exceeding $262,931,890,000 to the services of the Government in the financial year ending on March 31, 2010.
On Members' motions, Hon Miriam Lau will move a resolution under the Interpretation and General Clauses Ordinance to extend the period for amending the Independent Police Complaints Council Ordinance (Commencement) (No. 2) Notice 2009, which was laid on the table of the Legislative Council on March 18, 2009, to the meeting of May 6, 2009.
Hon Albert Chan will also move a resolution under the Interpretation and General Clauses Ordinance to repeal the Public Revenue Protection Order 2009, which was laid on the table of the Legislative Council on March 4, 2009.
Members will also ask the Government 20 questions on various policy areas, all of which require written replies.

Members of the public are welcome to observe the proceedings of the meeting from the public galleries of the Legislative Council Chamber. They may reserve seats by calling 2869 9399 during office hours. Seats will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. Members of the public can also listen to the meeting via the audio webcast system on the Legislative Council homepage.
