Appointments to the Securities and Futures Appeals Tribunal

     The Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau announced today (March 27) that the Financial Secretary has appointed the following 22 persons as members of the Securities and Futures Appeals Tribunal (SFAT), under delegated authority from the Chief Executive, for a term of two years starting next Wednesday (April 1):

     The SFAT is a statutory tribunal established under the Securities and Futures Ordinance (SFO) to hear appeals against specified decisions made under the SFO by the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and the investor compensation company recognised by the SFC.

     The SFAT, which is chaired by a judge of the Court of First Instance of the High Court, provides an effective safeguard to ensure that the relevant regulatory decisions are reasonable and fair and enhances the accountability of the SFC.
