Public views sought to enhance Island East Harbour-front
********************************************************

The Planning Department has launched the Stage 1 Public Engagement Programme of the Hong Kong Island East Harbour-front Study.  The purpose of the study is to formulate a comprehensive plan for enhancement of the Hong Kong Island East harbour-front areas focusing on connectivity and accessibility to the harbour-front.

Various forms of engagement activities have been planned to solicit initial views from key stakeholders on the major issues and key areas of concern on enhancement of the Island East harbour-front areas as well as their visions, aspirations and suggestions on harbour-front enhancement.

From now until April 1, families with children are invited to participate in a drawing campaign titled "Envisioning for the East".  Through creative illustrations, the public, especially the younger generation, can express their visions on harbour-front enhancement and help give insights into the study.

Members of the public can also attend a brainstorming workshop to be held at Aldrich Bay Community Hall, Shau Kei Wan, in the afternoon of April 5 to exchange their views including visions, aspirations and suggestions on enhancement of the Hong Kong Island East Harbour-front.

To solicit views from the wider community, the Planning Department, from now until April 17, is undertaking a questionnaire survey, the findings of which will be quantitatively analysed and form input to the study.

Details of the engagement activities, together with the entry form for the drawing campaign, reply slip for the brainstorming workshop and the questionnaires, are available on the Planning Department's website www.pland.gov.hk.
