SCMA to visit Sichuan

     The Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Stephen Lam, will depart for Chengdu, Sichuan, in the evening of March 26.

     On Friday (March 27) morning, he will attend the signing ceremony of the "Letter of Intent on HKSAR's Second Stage Work in Support of Restoration and Reconstruction in the Sichuan Earthquake Stricken Areas" between the HKSAR Government and the Sichuan Provincial Government.

     The HKSAR's second stage reconstruction support work will cover 103 projects, requiring an estimated financial commitment of about HK$3.8 billion. These include 80 projects in the areas of education, medical and rehabilitation, and social welfare as well as 23 projects related to the reconstruction of the Wolong Nature Reserve.

     Mr Lam will return to Hong Kong on the same day.  During Mr Lam's absence, Under Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Raymond Tam, will be Acting Secretary.
