11 employers ordered to pay MPF non-payment

The following is issued on behalf of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority:

     The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (March 24) pursued 11 claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for about $192,500 on behalf of 41 employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

     Six defendants, Leung Ka Lung trading as Chin To Printing Company, Ka Wai Food Company Limited, Jinda Engineering Company Limited, City Wide Logistics Limited, 3-Med Medical & Rehab., Company Limited and Kwok Leung Transportation Company Limited, did not dispute the amount claimed. The Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA $46,367.56, $26,399.68, $18,352.78, $18,270, $17,418.13 and 6,960.81, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

     The other five defendants, Hong Keung Industrial (Hong Kong) Limited, Spotting Media Limited, Chan Fu Shing trading as Sunrise Motor Service, Well Success International Enterprises Limited and Rapid Top Limited trading as South North Chek Hot Pot Seafood Restaurant, did not appear. In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA $30,712.50, $11,812.50, $8,400, 7,069.07 and $907.58, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

     The amounts awarded at the tribunal will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The tribunal ordered the respective defendants to pay costs of $240, $110, $126, $126, $185, $96, $136, $80, $129, $96 and $60.
