***********************************************************

More than half a million visitors visited and enjoyed the Hong Kong Flower Show 2009 organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) from March 13-22 at Victoria Park.

As part of its efforts to promote greening, the LCSD has started to distribute the plants in good condition to various gardens and parks managed by the department, as well as schools and charity organisations, so the public can continue to enjoy them.

The show's theme was "Blossoming Welcome for the EAG". About 200 organisations from the Mainland, Australia, Canada, Estonia, France, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States participated in the flower show. A series of fringe activities were also held during the show period, including music and dance performances, floral art demonstrations, fashion show, cooking demonstrations, green talks and fun games.

The 10-day event attracted 538,107 visitors with an average daily attendance of 53,810; while 548,382 people visited the 11-day Hong Kong Flower Show last year with an average daily attendance of 49,853.
