The Hong Kong Flower Show 2009 at Victoria Park will close at 9pm tomorrow (March 22) and members of the public who wish to see the tens of thousands of exotic flowers at the annual flower show should not miss the last chance.
The showground is a colourful wonderland made up with more than 350,000 flowers, including 60,000 pots of the theme flower Cosmos.
Other highlights of the show include the Leisure and Cultural Services Department's spectacular display "Blossoming Welcome for the EAG" featuring a globe decorated with blooming Kalanchoe and Impatien, rotating continuously; the Hong Kong 2009 East Asian Games mascots "Dony" and "Ami" made up of flowering plants at the showground entrance on Sugar Street; a six-metre by three-metre giant flower wall for the EAG made up of colourful flowering plants; a mosaiculture display "Jungle Games" featuring "Dony" and "Ami" leading a league of lovely jungle athletes; a fun display featuring oranges and lemons in the shape of a farmer and a giant pumpkin; a spectacular sea of more than 15,000 tulips, and grand displays by the Beijing Municipal Administration Centre of Parks, Hangzhou Landscape and Cultural Relics Bureau, and Guangzhou Agricultural Bureau, etc.
A series of fringe activities are arranged. Among them was the Hong Kong Flower Show 2009 Nanyang Commercial Bank Student Drawing Competition.
At today's (March 21) prize presentation ceremony, Wong Chi-ki from Cheung Chuk Shan College, and Wong Chak-hei from Shanghai Alumni Primary School were the respective overall winners for the Secondary School and Primary School Sections of the competition. The winning entries are now on display at the showground.
Other activities include performances, floral art demonstrations, green talks and fun games to complement the flower show for the enjoyment of visitors.

1) 11.30am to 12.30pm

Organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the Hong Kong Flower Show 2009 is open from 9am to 9pm until Sunday (March 22). Admission tickets are available at the entrance to the showground at Victoria Park.
Admission for adults is $14. Children aged between 4 and 14, students, persons with disabilities and senior citizens aged 60 or above pay half price.
