No.3 alarm fire in Fo Tan Roundup

A fenced-off area of about 20 x 20 metres which was used as office and storage of building materials and miscellaneous articles on the roof of Universal Industrial Centre, 19-25 Shan Mei Street, Fo Tan, was severely damaged by fire today (March 17).
The fire broke out at 2.17pm and was upgraded to No. 3 alarm at 2.24pm. Firemen used four jets and six breathing apparatus teams to fight the blaze. The fire was put out at 4pm.
About 120 people were evacuated to a place of safety.
No casualty was reported.
No suspicious circumstances were detected about the cause of the fire.
