Unlicensed food factory in Yuen Long raided (with photos)

     The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) this afternoon (March 17) raided a wooden structure used as an unlicensed food factory at Ha Tsuen, Yuen Long, and seized about 530 kilogrammes of pig's intestines and some cooking paraphernalia.

     A man arrested during the operation is assisting investigations.

     Under the Food Business Regulation, the maximum penalty, upon conviction, for operating an unlicensed food factory is a fine of $50,000 and six months' imprisonment.

     "We will continue to take stringent enforcement action against unlicensed food business to safeguard food safety and public health," an FEHD spokesman said.

      "People should report such illegal activities through the department's hotline at 2868 0000."
