The Census and Statistics Department (C&SD) today (March 16) appealed to members of the public to submit their views on the methodology of a new survey, namely the Annual Earnings and Hours Survey (AEHS) before April 3, 2009.
The AEHS is a new annual statistical survey to be conducted by C&SD in May 2009. The purpose of the survey is to collect detailed wage, employment and demographic information of employees in Hong Kong, so as to provide relevant statistics to support analyses related to the statutory minimum wage.
A spokesman for C&SD said, ¡§The consultation, originally scheduled to end last month, will continue until April 3, 2009 to ensure that the community will have sufficient opportunities to provide their views.¡¨
An information paper outlining the salient features of AEHS, including the methodology, data coverage and tabulation plan, is available from the Business Consultation e-Platform of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (http://www.gov.hk/en/business/supportenterprises/bf/consultation/current.htm). Members of the public are welcome to send their comments and suggestions to the C&SD on or before April 3, 2009 (e-mail: hhfwong@censtatd.gov.hk, fax: 3579 2070).
For enquiries about the consultation exercise, please contact the Wages and Labour Costs Statistics Section of C&SD at telephone number 2887 5230.
