Unlicensed food factory in Kowloon City raided

     The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) this morning (March 13) raided an unlicensed food factory on the second floor, 10 Nam Kok Road, Kowloon City, and seized some 40 kilogrammes of raw materials and cooked food, including mushroom, vegetables, canned corn and pork.

     A man was arrested and is assisting investigations.

     Under the Food Business Regulation, the maximum penalty for operating an unlicensed food factory, is a fine of $50,000 and six months' imprisonment.

     "We will continue to take stringent enforcement action against unlicensed food business to safeguard food safety and public health," an FEHD spokesman said.

     "People should report such illegal activities through the department's hotline at 2868 0000."
