Police today (March 11) appealed for information about a fatal traffic accident in Kowloon City in which a 51-year-old station sergeant was killed.
About 10.30am, the station sergeant, Chan Ka-wai was travelling along West bound Argyle Street towards Waterloo Road on his police motorcycle, heading for the scene of another traffic accident. At the junction of Waterloo Road, Sergeant Chan¡¦s motorcycle collided with a public light bus (PLB) driven by a 58-year-old man which was turning right into Waterloo Road from East bound Argyle Street.
The seriously injured officer was taken to the Kwong Wah Hospital and later certified dead at 11.47am.
The PLB driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death. He was allowed bail pending further enquiries.
Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon West are proceeding.
Police urged anyone who saw the accident or has any information, to contact the investigating officer at 2773 5211 or 27735200.
