The Education Bureau today (March 10) announced the appointment of members to the Quality Education Fund Investment Committee (QEFIC).
Mr Gordon Kwong Che-keung has been reappointed to the QEFIC for another year with effect from March 11, 2009. Mr Kwong is an independent non-executive director of a number of listed companies and has served on the committee since March 10, 2004.
Mr Jacob Tsang Chung has been newly appointed to QEFIC for a term of two years with effect from March 11, 2009. Mr Tsang is the Director of Group Treasury, Hong Kong Jockey Club.
The QEF was established in early 1998 with capital of $5 billion to fund community initiatives which promote quality education in Hong Kong. The QEFIC was set up to formulate policies for and to monitor the investment of the Fund.
Since its establishment, the Fund has supported 7,434 projects with grants amounting to a total of $3.62 billion.
