"Special Topics Report No. 50" on social statistics published

     The "Special Topics Report No. 50" on social statistics is published by the Census and Statistics Department (C&SD) today (March 10).

     The report contains the findings of a special enquiry on "Patterns of hours of work of employees" which was conducted by the C&SD via the General Household Survey during January to June 2008.

     In this enquiry, information pertaining to employees working in the non-government sector (including the private sector, subvented organisations and statutory bodies) on the contractual hours of work in their present job was provided.  It also collected information on the average hours of work, and paid and unpaid overtime work performed by those employees during the seven days before enumeration.

     The report includes findings of the above enquiry with some 20 statistical tables and charts.  Users can download the publication free of charge at the website of the C&SD (www.censtatd.gov.hk/products_and_services/products/publications/index.jsp).

     Print version of the publication will be available for sale at HK$62 per issue in late March 2009.  Purchase can be done in person at the Publications Unit of the C&SD (Address : 19/F Wanchai Tower, 12 Harbour Road, Wan Chai; Tel. : 2582 3025) or through mail order by returning a completed order form which can be downloaded from the C&SD's website (www.censtatd.gov.hk/products_and_services/other_services/provision_of_stat/mail_ordering_of_publications/index.jsp).  Print version of the publication is also available for sale online at the Government Bookstore of the Information Services Department (www.bookstore.gov.hk).
