The Buildings Department approved 28 building plans in January - 11 on Hong Kong Island, six in Kowloon and 11 in the New Territories.
Of the approved plans, 10 were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, four were for commercial developments, two were for factory and industrial developments, and 12 were for community services developments.
In the same month, consent was given for work to start on nine building projects that, when completed, will provide 139,709 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 1,951 units, and 35,808 square metres of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 10 building projects.
The department also issued 12 occupation permits - five in Kowloon and seven in the New Territories.
Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor areas for domestic use were 191,589 square metres, involving 1,116 units, and 129,972 square metres for non-domestic use.
The declared cost of the new buildings completed in January totalled about $5.2 billion.
In addition, seven demolition consents involving seven building structures were issued.
The department received 1,640 complaints against unauthorised building works in January, and issued 1,316 removal orders on unauthorised works.
