JPC environmental badges presentation ceremony (with photo)

     Commissioner of Police, Mr Tang King-shing, today (February 28) commended more than 600 Junior Police Call (JPC) members, leaders and advanced leaders who took part in the ˇ§Hongkong Bank Foundation JPC Environmental Badge Schemeˇ¨ for their efforts in promoting awareness of and participation in nature conservation at a ceremony held at Police Headquarters.

     Launched in 2006 and funded by the Hongkong Bank Foundation, the two-year scheme was organised by the Police Public Relations Branch with the support of the World Wide Fund Hong Kong (WWF Hong Kong), which aimed at raising JPC membersˇ¦ awareness of environmental protection through a variety of seminars, field trips and projects.

     Mr Tang said: ˇ§JPC members are not only devoted to fighting crime, but also spare no efforts in combating environmental problems to promote a better living environment.

     ˇ§I hope everyone will encourage their family members and friends to join hands with JPC to fight crime, protect our environment and reduce consumption to make Hong Kong a safer and greener city.ˇ¨

     Speaking at the ceremony, Head of Corporate Sustainability Asia Pacific Region, HSBC, Ms Teresa Au, said, ˇ§HSBC is a strong supporter of environmental protection and sustainable development. We have been actively partnering with the community in launching environmental initiatives. Through the environmental badge scheme, we hope to enhance our next generationˇ¦s knowledge on environmental protection and climate change while encouraging them to adopt a greener lifestyle to combat climate change.ˇ¨

     The Chief Executive Officer of WWF Hong Kong, Mr Eric Bohm, also attended the ceremony and presented environmental badges to the JPC representatives.
