The following is issued on behalf of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority:
The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (February 25) pursued seven claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for about $78,000 on behalf of 25 employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.
At the tribunal's hearing, Hoi On Security Company Limited, did not dispute the amount claimed and it was ordered them to pay the MPFA $33,595.77, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.
The other six defendants, Best Wealth Enterprise Limited trading as Delight Restaurant, Professional Vehicle Co. Limited, Triple Luck Limited trading as Golden Jade Seafood City, Three Hearts Dower Limited trading as Three Hearts Dower Esthetics Academy, Hundred Cafˆm Limited and Videonline Communications (Asia) Limited, did not appear at today's hearing. In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA $28,140.48, $7,670.93, $5,229, $2,599, $1,548.99 and $653.73, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.
The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The Adjudicator further ordered the respective defendants to pay costs of $186.40, $268, $90, $196, $155, $116 and $76.
