The Home Affairs Bureau (HAB) welcomed the satisfactory conclusion of the tenancy renewal of Sunbeam Theatre.
An HAB spokesman said today (February 21) that the government has been very concerned about the tenancy renewal of Sunbeam Theatre, and has strived to facilitate the reaching of an agreement between the landlord and the operator.
The spokesman stressed that the government is dedicated to the preservation, promotion and development of Cantonese opera, and has set policy objectives to provide continued support to the preservation and development of Cantonese opera in various ways. The government will continue to meet its needs through various channels, which include development of performance venues of different scales, audience building, professional training, fostering of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao co-operation, and preservation of antiquities.
