Let's dance at Tsuen Wan Town Hall today

     The festive dance event "Dance Day", organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, is held today (February 21) at the Tsuen Wan Town Hall. Officiating at the opening ceremony are the Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs, Mrs Carrie Yau, the Chairman of Tsuen Wan District Council, Mr Chau How-chen and Director of Leisure and Cultural Services, Mr Thomas Chow.

     Before the opening ceremony, there is a parade by local dance groups: Ho Ho Chuen Dance Organisations and Yuen Hai Artiste Troupe of Association of Hong Kong Dance Organisations, DanceArt Hong Kong, Hong Kong Dance Company Children's Troupe & Youth Troupe, Made in Hong Kong@Four Gig Heads, Ming Ri Institute for Arts Education, Rhythm & Tempo, Rico Tsoi Dance Centre, School of Dance, The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Unlock Dancing Plaza, Y-Space and Crossover B-boy. They will be joined by more than 100 secondary students dressed in specially designed “Dance Day” T-shirts. Veteran dancer and actor Lau Siu-ming and young dancers will also perform at the opening ceremony.

     The event runs from 12.30pm to 5pm and is free admission.

     People enjoy the fun-filled dance programmes in different areas of Tsuen Wan Town Hall including plaza, auditorium, exhibition gallery, foyer and footbridge. Local dance groups showcase different kinds of dance including contemporary Chinese dance, modern dance, environmental dance, tap dance, street dance, Jazz, Hip Hop and percussion.

     Other than dance performances, there are activities such as workshops and games stalls.
