Thirty Immigration Officers have been awarded certificates by the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF) after completing a two-day course on Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM).
Assistant Director of Immigration (Management and Support), Mr Corrado Chow, today (February 19) presented the certificates to the officers at the Immigration Service Institute of Training and Development.
"CISM is a comprehensive crisis intervention system which serves to stabilise the impact of major incidents and equip officers with the psychological qualities to protect themselves from the risk of psychological disorder after exposure to tragic and critical incidents," Mr Chow said.
He said the 30 trained officers would form a Critical Incident Stress Management Team tasked to work with the officers of the department's International Co-operation Section on large-scale accidents or hazards.
Mr Chow thanked Chief Clinical Psychologist of the Social Welfare Department, Mr Helios Lau Kar-cho, who is a qualified trainer of ICISF, for his support in making the CISM training a success.
