The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:
The Hospital Authority (HA) today (February 17) received the ¡§Investigation Report on Missing Baby Body from the Mortuary of Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital (PYNEH)¡¨ from the Hospital.
The HA Chief Executive, Mr Shane Solomon, said the Authority will ensure that the recommended measures of the Report are fully implemented by the hospital management to prevent recurrence of similar incident. ¡§At the same time, the Hospital Chief Executive has been asked to instigate appropriate disciplinary proceedings for those concerned staff members who have been found responsible and accountable for the unfortunate incident.¡¨
¡§We felt deeply sorry to the parents of the baby whose body was carelessly misplaced and still could not be recovered at this moment. On behalf of the Authority, I would like to express once again our deepest apology to the parents.¡¨
Mr Solomon also thanked the members of the Investigation Panel for their efforts and valuable contributions in the completion of the investigation report.
