Employer ordered to pay MPF non-payment

The following is issued on behalf of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority:

     The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (February 13) obtained an order in the District Court against an employer for payment of outstanding MPF contributions at about $400,000.

     The court issued judgment against Vevion Hong Kong Limited. The defendant was ordered to pay the MPFA $404,182.88, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable to 94 employees of the defendant.

     The amount awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as it is received by the MPFA. The District Court ordered the defendant to pay costs of $930.
