Hongkong Post today (February 10) announced that a special stamp sheetlet on the theme of "Mainland Scenery Series No 8: Mount Tianshan, Xinjiang" will be released on February 24 (Tuesday). Associated stamp products will also be on sale from the same day.
This sheetlet is the eighth in the Mainland Scenery series, showcasing the grandeur of Mount Tianshan, Xinjiang, with its majestic mountains and dazzling icescape. Spanning 2,500 kilometres, Mount Tianshan runs through central Xinjiang. One of the most extensive mountain belts in central Asia, Mount Tianshan includes three ranges, from north to south: North Tianshan, Central Tianshan and South Tianshan. The stamp sheetlet highlights in icy blue and snowy white the breathtaking vistas of Mount Tianshan. The upper part presents the gorgeous mountain range. The snapshot on the lower right reveals the silvery world of the snow-clad Gongnaisi Forestry Farm. The stamp gives a glimpse of the pristine and serene Lake Tianchi.
Official First Day Covers at $1 each will be on sale at all post offices from today. The stamp sheetlet and the associated philatelic products are on display at the General Post Office and Tsim Sha Tsui, Tsuen Wan and Sha Tin Central Post Offices. Advance orders for servicing self-provided covers will be accepted at all philatelic offices from today to next Monday (February 16).
