Two Hong Kong immigration officers will participate in a 13-day training programme in Canada.

Acting Chief Immigration Officer, Mr Chan Tin-chee and Mr Au Ka-wang, will leave for Ottawa tomorrow (February 9).

The objective of the overseas training programme is to broaden the officers' horizon and enhance their leadership development.

Mr Chan and Mr Au will attend the Senior Police Administrative Course (SPAC) run by the Canadian Police College of Royal Canadian Mounted Police. SPAC, which is designed for middle managers in law enforcement agencies, aims to enhance their leadership skills.

At a briefing with the two officers, Director of Immigration, Mr Simon Peh Yun-lu, said that in view of the growing complexity of immigration work, members of the service were required to adhere to the changing global political and economic situation closely and acquire contemporary management skills.
