Property Information Online Service to be launched
**************************************************

     The Rating and Valuation Department (RVD) will launch a new online property information service on Wednesday (February 11), allowing people to browse property information on about 1.5 million domestic properties, excluding village-type houses.

     Named Property Information Online (PIO), the new service will provide easy access of property address records of the department via a newly developed bilingual search engine with five different searching paths.

     Users can search for property information by simply inputting any one of the following paths:

1. Development or Building Name;
2. Street or Village Name and Building Number;
3. Lot Details;
4. RVDˇ¦s Assessment Number; and
5. Land Registry's Property Reference Number.

     "Information on saleable area, age, permitted occupation purposes of the properties and the aligned property address reference of the Land Registry will be displayed," a spokesman for the department said.

     "Users can view the required information online or obtain the information by email, by fax or by downloading the required file through Internet," he said.

     The search fee is $12 per property record. Payment can be made online using Credit Cards or PPS. Frequent users can apply for subscriber accounts for more convenient use of the system. Service charge for a subscriber account is $25 per month for one Login ID and supplementary Login ID at $10 each per month.

     "This new round-the-clock service will replace the departmentˇ¦s telephone-based Property Info-Hotline Service," the spokesman said, adding that there would be a short duration of about 10 minutes for the daily system data update after midnight.

     The 2009-10 Valuation List and Government Rent Roll to be declared in March, will also be added to this new online platform and be displayed during the statutory period up to May 31.

     The new service is accessible at (www.rvdpi.gov.hk) and also through the Rating and Valuation Department's homepage at (www.rvd.gov.hk). Enquiries can be made on telephone 2150 8836 or via email to (pio_enquiries@rvd.gov.hk).
