A man was today (February 4) fined $2,000 for contravening the conditions of the Certificate of Compliance (CoC) under Section 21 of the Clubs (Safety of Premises) Ordinance.
The Kowloon City Magistrates' Court heard that a club in Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, had been operating with a CoC under the Clubs (Safety of Premises) Ordinance. Officers of the Office of the Licensing Authority (OLA) of the Home Affairs Department inspected the club in April last year, and found that the actual layout of the premises deviated from the registered drawing under the CoC without permission, and the number of persons inside the clubhouse was over the maximum number of persons allowed at any one time under the CoC. Conditions 3 and 6 of the CoC were found to have been breached. The man, holder of the CoC, was therefore found to be in contravention of Section 21 of the Clubs (Safety of Premises) Ordinance and was charged.
A spokesman for the department said robust enforcement action would continue to be taken against illegal clubhouse operations.
