In view of the recent development in Israel and its surrounding areas, a Government spokesman today (February 3) reminded Hong Kong residents who planned to visit these areas to pay close attention to the situation there. Those who are already there should attend to their personal safety.
The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government will keep a close liaison with the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in Hong Kong and the Chinese Embassy in Israel to monitor the latest situation there.
The Immigration Department has so far received no request for assistance. Residents who need assistance while outside Hong Kong may call the hotline of the Assistance to Hong Kong Residents Unit of the Immigration Department at (852) 1868.
