Government in touch with family of HK residents in Arizona traffic accident

     The Immigration Department has been liaising closely with the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in Hong Kong (OCMFA) and the Consulate-General in Los Angeles to take follow-up actions after learning a road accident that occured yesterday near Hoover Dam in Arizona, the US, a government spokesman said today (January 31).

     The spokesman noted that the Consulate-General in Los Angeles had sent staff there to render assistance to those involved in the accidents. The Immigration Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government has also established contact with the family of a Hong Kong woman and her daughter who were involved in the accident to follow up their case. The department will continue to liaise closely with the OCMFA and the Consulate-General in Los Angeles and render practical assistance to the two residents and their family.

     Any Hong Kong residents who need assistance while outside Hong Kong may contact the Assistance to Hong Kong Residents Unit of the Immigration Department through its 24-hour hotline at (852) 1868.
