Budget consultation comic published today
*****************************************

The Financial Secretary's Office today (January 16) released a comic book as part of this year's Budget consultation exercise.  Through a time travel experience by the main character, Yat, the comic relays a key message: "Future success is built on today's decisions".

The Financial Secretary Mr John C Tsang said: "I am glad to have invited renowned local cartoonist Lee Chi-ching to produce the comic: Tomorrow ¡V Future for Today.  Through this lively work, we aim to draw our youth's attention to the Budget, and to encourage them to express their views.

"In the story, the characters face a series of problems such as unemployment, the effects of the financial tsunami and predicament of the poor and needy.  I hope that people can learn from Yat's experience and realise that the decisions we make today will have a great impact on our future," Mr Tsang said.

"It is a good start and marks the Government's determination to support local creative industry. I look forward to co-operation with more creative talent in the future."

"Tomorrow ¡V Future for Today", published in Chinese, will have a print version of 30,000 copies and will be distributed to secondary schools.  A bookmark with Mr Tsang's cartoon image will also be enclosed in each copy.  Limited copies are available at the Public Enquiry Service Centres of the Home Affairs Department, on a first-come-first-served basis.  People may also read the comics on the Budget website (www.budget.gov.hk).
