"Hekulada", to be performed by Heiquan Theatre next month (February), is a crazy mime show spanning ancient and modern times.
The story is about a primitive man Hekulada from millions of years ago, who accidentally intrudes into the modern world. He is enthralled by the gorgeous concrete jungle and decides to leave behind his past ordinary life. He ignores all the morbidity of the city and the threat of pollution and determines to become a trendy man in this material world. Together with a ballerina and a robot, they turn the city into their playground!
"Hekulada" is directed by Chiu Kin Tong, the Artistic Director of Heiquan Theatre. He graduated from the Drama School of Hong Kong Academy for Performing Art, majoring in Acting. He received the Outstanding Young Actor Award at the 17th Hong Kong Drama Award Presentation in 2008. He has performed in various theatre shows for adults and children. Chiu will also be one of the actors in this performance.
Heiquan Theatre is professional local theatre company specialising in mime. In the past year, the company has put on more than 30 shows in kindergartens and primary schools and also held numerous workshops in secondary schools. By organising theatre productions, training classes and school performances, it aims to promote audiences' appreciation of the performing arts.
