A fire at a recyclable storage site on Deep Bay Road in Lau Fau Shan at 6.02pm yesterday (January 7) was upgraded to a No. 3 alarm at 6.19pm.
A single-storey tin-sheeted structure, about 100 metres x 30 metres, storing scrap metal and used electrical appliances was severely damaged by the fire. A section of timber inside a single-storey timber store adjacent to the scrap metal store was also damaged. The fire was put under control at 11.58pm yesterday and put out at 1.29am today (January 8).
During the operation, firemen used 10 jets and four breathing apparatus teams to fight the blaze.
No casualties were reported in the fire. An initial report indicated that the cause of the fire was not suspicious.
