In response to media enquiries, the Labour Department gave the following reply today (January 6):
The Labour Department was glad that after the conciliation meeting mediated by the department, the HK Airport Services Ltd management and its staff reached an agreement.
The department appeals to all employers and employees to maintain good labour relations by upholding mutual understanding and frank communication. Employers and employees are encouraged to stand united to face the challenge of an economic downturn.
Apart from working actively through various channels, the Labour Department is also in close liaison with industry stakeholders to promote good labour relations. Members of the public are encouraged to contact the Labour Department for enquiries and assistance regarding labour relations issues.
